About this event

In addition to being proficient in oil painting and printmaking, Winslow Homer was a highly skilled watercolor artist. Throughout his long career spanning the second half of the nineteenth century, Homer used watercolor painting as a way to capture and explore the momentary and atmospheric while at home in New England and on his travels, for example, to the Caribbean and England. In conjunction with the exhibition on view at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, this talk hosted by art historian Dr. Pam Sachant focuses on Homer's skills and innovations as a watercolor artist, and examines how his work in this medium fits within his oeuvre.
