Friends of Dowser Dan Open House

On November 13, 2026, Colorado River Alliance (CRA) will host an Open House to celebrate the retirement of Evan Kelley and launch CRA’s new Youth Environmental Stewardship (YES!) Program, Friends of Dowser Dan.

For more than three decades, generations of Central Texas students have learned about water conservation, watershed protection, and the importance of our river through the beloved Dowser Dan program. Created by Austin Water in 1991 and brought to life by Evan Kelley for over 30 years, Dowser Dan has inspired an estimated half million students across Austin to become better stewards of our most precious resource: water.

As Evan prepares for a well-earned retirement, Colorado River Alliance is honored to carry the legacy forward under a new name: Friends of Dowser Dan .

Help Us Thank Dowser Dan

We want to recognize the incredible legacy of Evan Kelley, whose portrayal of Dowser Dan has educated and inspired generations of students.

Do you have a favorite Dowser Dan memory? Maybe you remember a visit to your school, a Kindergarten student who couldn’t stop singing about grease blobs, or a lesson that stuck with you long after the performance ended.

We invite you to share your stories, photos, videos, and messages of thanks so we can celebrate Evan’s remarkable impact and send him into retirement with the gratitude he deserves.

Share a memory with us or let us know that you are interested in attending the Friends of Dowser Dan open house by emailing contact@coloradoriver.org by November 10, 2026.
