Magic Hour

About this event

KDH Dance Company presents MAGIC HOUR

Join us November 5th-7th for a new work created for six dancers, three musicians and a large basketball court. The piece revolves around a central idea that we are bigger than our bodies, allowing us to feel our energy spread through the expansive outdoor space, both inhabiting and contributing to a field of activity.

This piece is also a reminder of the spectacular sunset on the day our founder passed. The “violet crown” of purples and blues during magic hour that day felt like yet another instance where Kathy was adding beauty to the world and a reminder that her energy wasn’t gone, but was still with us, billowing and swirling. These ideas and images mingle with memories of outdoor activities, some from childhood, some with a competitive spirit, and others just for the play.

Seating

Seating will be on one side of the wide court with three different chair options in each of the three rows. All seats provide a fabulous view of the work, however we do not recommend the "directors chairs" in the third row for young kids as their view may be obstrcuted by the seats in front of them.

Please read the seating descriptions for each chair and choose whichever option sounds most appealing to you. Please note that even though the floor chairs offer a padded back and bottom (and are quite comfortable) they do sit directly on the ground.

Parking

Please arrive early to accommodate street parking around Alamo Pocket Park and in the surrounding neighborhood. There is also a small parking lot for the park, but it will fill up fast. Don't want to arrive early to park? Consider taking a ride-share, using public transportation or maybe car pooling with friends. Please be mindful to not block anyone's driveway when parking in the neighborhood, and give yourself plenty of time to park and settle in.

ADA Accommodations

Accommodations are available upon request; please contact us at least 48 hours in advance so we can make appropriate arrangements. We will make every effort to support your needs and ensure an accessible experience.
