About this event

How can you tell when local government is being transparent — and when it isn’t?

Join LWVAA as we host two former Travis County Commissioners for a candid conversation about how city and county decisions are made, what information residents should be able to access and understand, where transparency can fall short, and what citizens can do when it does.

Date: Saturday, November 21

Time: 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Place: Austin Public Library – Howson Branch

Scheduled speakers:

Bill Aleshire , attorney, former Travis County judge, and recipient of 2025 James Madison Award from FOIFT

Gerald Daugherty , former Travis County Commissioner District 3
